Renewal Portal: AIMA Makes ARI Renewal Available

The Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA, I.P.) announces that, starting next Monday, February 2, 2026, the renewal of Residence Permits for Investment (ARI) will be available through the Renewal Portal. The submission of applications and the payment of applicable fees will become simpler, faster, and fully digital.

This measure is part of AIMA’s ongoing efforts to modernize and streamline its services, enhancing responsiveness and ensuring greater predictability and transparency for citizens and investors.

Previously Scheduled Appointments: Mandatory Maintenance

AIMA clarifies that all appointments previously scheduled for ARI renewal, where in-person attendance is strictly required for the collection of biometric data due to invalid biometrics—as indicated in the notifications sent to the applicants—must be maintained.

  • These appointments will be used exclusively for the collection of biometric data;
  • They will not constitute the submission of the renewal application, which will be carried out entirely through the Renewal Portal;
  • The administrative procedure will continue normally and conclude with the relevant decision. In the case of approval, the effectiveness of the act will be conditional on the collection of the biometric data necessary for issuing the Residence Permit.

Renewals and Fee Payments Will Now Occur Exclusively Through the Renewal Portal

All ARI holders and their reunified family members must now:

  • Submit their renewal application, and
  • Pay the applicable fees,

through the Renewal Portal, which becomes the sole channel for processing these administrative actions.

Future Appointments for Biometric Data

In cases where, after reviewing the application submitted on the portal, in-person biometric data collection is required, AIMA will:

  • Automatically schedule a date for this purpose,
  • Notify the applicant of the day, time, and location,
  • Ensure that the in-person appointment is solely for biometric data collection, while all other procedures remain in the digital environment.

Commitment to Efficiency and Modernization

This change ensures:

  • Faster processing times,
  • Better use of in-person service capacity,
  • Reduction of unnecessary travel,
  • Enhanced security and integrity of the data processed,
  • Improved citizen experience, focusing on predictability and simplification.

AIMA, I.P., remains publicly committed to modernizing, digitizing, and making all its services more effective, strengthening citizen confidence and enhancing the country’s competitiveness in attracting foreign investment.
